It took me ages to find a way  of wearing my hairpiece that I liked but I got used to it by the end of the day and actually quite enjoyed it. I was also relieved that no one else was wearing the same one. My friend bought a black fascinator from Accessorize and saw fifteen people in the same one. So for future reference, I would definitely recommend customising your hat, even if it’s just sticking a couple of flower brooches on it or something..

???????????????????????????????

Is there anything more British than bunting?

???????????????????????????????

My friends and I were very taken with this hat, I’d have liked to see it even simpler though, the bow was unnecessary.

 Posh nosh, innit…

???????????????????????????????

An excellent money making scheme, women were wandering around barefoot from about 2pm onwards…

???????????????????????????????

An ingenious woman who wouldn’t let a little thing like mud and grass stop her from wearing her stilettos!

I pity the person who had to clean this up… 😦

???????????????????????????????

I decided that sunglasses under the veil didn’t look as stupid as I had feared.  Thankfully, as it was a gorgeously sunny day!

 The aftermath…

The gloriously British sing-along at the end was my favourite part (horses are actually pretty boring), although if I never hear “Land of Hope and Glory” again, it’ll be too soon! (They played it FOUR times!)

NB. I wrote this post last night. This morning I went to a friend’s citizenship ceremony.

Where they played “Land of Hope and Glory”.

B2 90sshortsfloral

Friday 90s music night in Camden: 90s-esque floral dress – Forever 21 (it’s nicer in the flesh, super-flattering). Worn with leggings and my Office boots (when will it be bare legs weather?!), my old tattoo style choker that I’m (clearly) obsessed with, a chilli pepper pendant that was a freebie at a jewellery shop in Siena and old earrings.

B2 90s

Saturday (was meant to be brunch but became linner): Zara tee, M&S shorts, almost old enough to vote by now Warehouse leather jacket, Primark backpack. The necklace was a Christmas present last year from my boyfriend. He got it at Sublime, a shop near my work that I’m kind of obsessed with.)

B2necklace

B2Stylish tee

Sunday lunch with my family: Asos dress (I used to wear this all the time, I feel like it’s a bit young for me now but I like the shape so much that it stubbornly remains a staple!)

B2floralB2floral3jacket

(Me in the same dress last summer. With my Warehouse jacket and Asos detachable collar)

Bonus:

Monday night yoga outfit. (Yes, I do yoga. No, I can’t believe it either.)

YogaJam

Trainers: Nike. The Jam T-shirt was a present from my sister who bought it at a school fair she attended, from Andy Jordan himself (this is only exciting if you are an overly obsessive Made in Chelsea fan. Which I am) 😀

Happy Hump Day!

Oops I did it again… I never seem to realise that I’m wearing all one brand until I start writing a post!

Oh well, here is my OOTD:

White top: M&S

Navy treggings: also M&S

(Strap top underneath: M&S..)

White plimsolls: Office

Necklace: Anthropologie (described by one of my best friends as “the ugliest necklace she had ever seen in her entire life”. :-p  See my post “Divisive” for how much I mind…)

Lilac nails: Revlon “Charming”, I love this colour. My girlfriends said it made me look (even) pastier than normal but I have also had compliments on it from cute guys so… (Ok ok, one cute guy… and he was trying to sell me something…. but still, he clearly meant it.) I think it’s really pretty, plus it lasts quite a while before chipping, so I’m sold.

For work, I changed into flats from Office. (I know it’s ridiculous to go to work in flats only to change into different flats but I just can’t walk for long in ballet shoes!)

The earrings are from Dorothy Perkins, a few years ago.

Dress: Asos

Leggings: Asda

Shoes: Primark

I am kind of obsessed with this dress. I have it (with shoulders) in 3 colours already and when I saw this version I had to add it to the collection! It’s super comfy (good for work) and the cut-outs make it just a little bit sexy (good for after work :-p). Plus I’m excited to wear it with a patterned shirt underneath when it gets cold again!

I don’t normally wear leggings with shoes, I prefer them with boots so you can’t tell they’re leggings but it’s too warm for boots and too cold for bare legs so I thought I’d give this a try. I think it looks ok and it’s a lot comfier than tights but I’m still undecided! Any thoughts? Are leggings still an acceptable look?

ImageThe bracelet is vintage and the earrings were a gift!

Image

ImageThe star ring is from Whistles. I think I’ve said this before but I’m always pleasantly surprised by how reasonable Whistles jewellery is compared to its clothes! As you can see, the ring has tarnished a lot (it’s a bit more rose gold than yellow gold now) but I still like it!

Happy Friday everyone and enjoy the long weekend, fellow Englishfolk! Woohooo! 😀

Pug dress: Therapy

Boots: Marks & Spencer

ImageCat ears ring: This was a birthday present, I think it was from Louche at Joy. They do lots of cute cat ear stuff on ASOS too.

Love bracelet: Marks & Spencer

Heart earrings: Everyone always compliments me on these which makes me laugh because not only are they super simple but I got them in a Christmas cracker!

Necklace: Pianegonda. I wore this today as a.) it was a birthday present from my boyfriend a few years ago and b.) it is a heart but not obviously so (my Dad is convinced it’s a dagger) so it helps me avoid total hearty overkill. (The nails and the earrings are probably enough… And the nails clash so badly with this dress! ;-0)

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Lots of Love,

The Styletterie xox

It’s Friday! And not a moment too soon.

I wear this when I’m feeling like I want a bit of edge but I still have to be appropriate for work. This outfit always prompts my bf to rage about how unfair it is that women can basically wear anything to work while men have to be boring. I’ve just realised that this makes it sound like he wants to wear tassels to work. I really hope this is not the case…

Image

Anyhoo…..

-Tassel shirt: Warehouse. I love this shirt but I don’t recommend wearing it if you have a busy day ahead of you, as you will spend at least half the day detaching yourself from items that the tassels have tangled themselves up in. Phones, doors, bracelets, your pants, other people, other people’s pants… Seriously, this shirt has boundary issues.

-Treggings: M&S -I know, I basically wear these every day (except for when I wash them. Which does happen, I promise!)

-Studded mary-janes: Office

-Pearl and safety pin necklace: originally just a plain pearl necklace that my mother didn’t wear anymore. I stole the safety pin idea from here.

-Pink lips: Wet ‘n’ Wild, I am obsessed with this brand, when I was in NY  I bought so many of these lipsticks because they have better staying power than any other brand I’ve found and they are 99cents each!!!

Also:

Image

-TGIF bracelet: BCBGeneration

-Asymmetric bow earrings that cause everyone to exclaim “oh no, your earrings have broken!” or make girl with a pearl earring references when they see me: vintage. I think they might actually have been 2 pairs of earrings at one point, but I think they go together quite nicely.

-Fake (I assume, think it was a gift) Chanel bracelet

-Star and horseshoe bracelet: Nomination

-Spiky bracelet: Forever 21

Have a great weekend!

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!! And to stave off the horror of turning the ripe old age of 27 I am wearing:

-A tiara. Obvs. (Although technically I am not wearing it today as I am at work and, allegedly, a grown-up. I did wear it all weekend though :-D)

-My BCBGeneration bracelet (previously seen here)

-A very bright pink shirt (no one’s ignoring me today) from Express in New York, which was an amazing shop with H&M-esque prices (and everything was 40% off the day I went so I bought a million things!)

-My trusty M&S treggings

-My short-sleeved Monsoon jumper which I like to think adds a dash of Clueless to all my shirts

-A gold leafy hairband that I got for my birthday (which arrived with a big sign on top telling me that I’m going to see Beyonce in March! Woo, thanks guys! It later transpired that my genius friend had accidently cut said sign out of what she thought was a scrap envelope but turned out to contain her brother’s university degree! Oops.)

-My new glittery shoes from Office that I bought in the boxing day sales

-Mid-life crisis: model’s own

Hope you all have as great a day as I intend to!

A 2014 bracelet and charm (both gifts from my parents in Athens :-D) to ensure that my arms and I are fashionably ready for 2014!

Hope your new year is off to a great start!

B2, fish etc 189fish

On Friday night I went to the London Aquarium for a drinks evening with my friends, figuring what could be a better combination than alcohol, gossip and fish? (The answer turned out to be all of the above plus Chicken McNuggets.) Here’s what I learned:

-Sharks are pretty creepy (especially when you are walking over them on a clear glass floor)

-Rays look really smiley but don’t mess with them.

Image

-Fish are amazingly stylish and most of the patterns they sported prompted one or all of my friends to wistfully imagine them as dresses. Mary Katrantzou-take note.

Image

-Eating coley is better for the environment than eating cod. (But coleys presumably disagree.)

– Jellyfish are totally hypnotic.

Image

-Not all piranhas are scary. Some are non-carnivorous and look like they’ve been dipped in glitter! (See top picture)

-I was totally right when I said that one day fish themed jewellery would come in handy.
