OOTD T-shirts

Just two recent outfits…

I wore my new pink M&S top with M&S treggings and sparkly Converse to see Dave Chappelle at the Hammersmith Apollo last week. We were way further forward than I thought we’d be and I have never been so grateful for a lack of audience participation in my life! I think I am going to make an effort to sit near the back at comedy shows in the future… It didn’t help that my sister was wearing an even brighter top (it was neon and actually glowed under the lights) – we have never felt so vulnerable! Having said that, our cheeks hurt for hours afterwards so definitely a good show!

The top is super flowy and comfortable and has a funky pleated back, which adds interest and makes it just smart enough for work:

M&S

I’m not sure how flattering it actually is- I’m worried that it creates a slight hump-back/maternity effect- but I think that’s mostly just in photos, it’s fine in motion. And I couldn’t resist the colour!

Necklace: Sublime; ring from Monastiraki last year; bracelets are various ones ones I have accumulated over the years, I think the grey circle one is by Elle Amber.

The top kind of speaks for itself… how could I not buy it?! Anything that combines Disney with Beyoncé is alright by me! I am obsessed with Primark t-shirts actually, they are pretty much all I buy these days- I love the captions, the material and the shape. Although I can’t wait for them to get over their “half rolled up sleeves” phase.

I wore this outfit to go for dinner yesterday. The skirt is Primark, and the trainers are New Balance (410 Sonic) from Asos.

If you had told me even a year ago that I would be wearing trainers to dinner, I would have laughed in your face. (Admittedly, we only went to the local kebab place, I wouldn’t have worn them had we been going anywhere nicer.) But as I get older, I am rapidly losing tolerance for anything less than super-comfiness (another thing I never believed I’d say until recently) and so I bought these with a view to mostly just wearing them to and from work. However, what with seeing so many people (primarily bloggers) making trainers into a ‘look’, I have been venturing out in them more and more. It took me ages to find ones that I liked, as I wanted really clean, uncluttered ones that didn’t make my feet look enormous (I have realised that whenever I think a woman looks nice in trainers, it is almost always because her feet are tiny and dainty- aka my life dream) but I am really happy with these ones.

Still not as cool as my sparkly Converse though!

Casual wkend3

Easter Bank Holiday weekend. It was a pretty casual 4 days for me as my family and I celebrate Greek Easter which was a week later this year, so I didn’t have any special plans and got to just chill. 🙂

photo 2

I went to Covent Garden with my bf to return some shoes and have some Shake Shack. I was going to change before heading to a friend’s in the evening for a games night but didn’t have time (too many cheese fries!). I wore:

– Leopard print Coke tee from Primark

– Black M&S treggings

– Sequinned Converse trainers (also seen here).

– My sister’s silver and turquoise earrings.

– Turquoise bracelet from Suite Blanco in Lisbon

– and bright pink Wet n’ Wild lipstick to jazz it up

To walk to my sister’s on an unexpectedly lovely day I wore:

photo 5

– White tee from Forever 21

– Navy M&S treggings

– Earrings and bracelet from Suite Blanco in Lisbon

Backpack from Primark

– Nike trainers

For a pub visit in the evening with some friends:

– Black tee from Ruly’s in Lisbon

– Black M&S treggings

– New black Forever 21 handbag

– Topshop earrings

– New Asos ‘Evie’ clumpy heels, that I ummed and ahhed over for so long that I think I probably missed the deadline for sending back anyway! They are a bit massive and clodhopper-y, but they are also surprisingly comfortable. A couple of my friends have the slightly lower, more elegant Topshop version but both say that they are hugely painful. My boyfriend hates them but my friends and sister all liked them… So, they’re keepers!

To play frisbee in the park with my nephews:

– Leo tee from Primark

Hearty Asos sunnies

So dreamy….

I was an almost-teenager when Titanic came out and it was practically the law to fancy Leo.

Not that it was hard…

:-p

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend (and last weekend, which felt very short!)

Have a great week!

Grown up 1

(…and new shoes!)

Something about this outfit is making me feel really grown up. I feel like it’s the sort of thing I’d wear to go to my kids’ Parents’ Evening after work or something. If I had kids. Which I don’t. So, I’m just wearing it to work and trying to use longer words than usual instead.

After all, I am indubitably a big fan of circumlocution.

Top: Oasis

Dark navy treggings: Marks & Spencer

New booties: Zara (Today is their first outing, they are surprisingly comfy thus far!)

The pattern is making me feel really spring-y! (Even though I only just noticed the bugs right this moment, looking at this photo. I thought it only had flowers on it until now!)

I actually just looked on the Oasis website and they have loads of really pretty tops that would be useful for work/post-work drinking in the sun (please let this happen soon! I am so ready!)

In keeping with my grown up vibe, I kept my jewellery simple (and matching! This never happens, I’ll try not to break my arm patting myself on the back) and wore this necklace and earring set that my Mum gave me. I think they were a freebie in a supermarket in Athens (a “spend this much on feta and pick a gift” sort of jobbie) and she gave them to me because she’s the best 🙂 (and also only really wears gold and doesn’t have pierced ears!).

In other news, I am getting up at the crack o’ dawn tomorrow for a 5 day holiday in Istanbul! I am super excited and already looking forward to blogging about it when I get back! 😀

Have a great week!

Vday OOTD

I love a good theme, and planning my outfit around the day is one of my life’s greatest joys. On Valentine’s Day however, I think I had actually managed to overdose on hearts and red and pink, and so I kept my outfit simple and unthemed… classic, if you will, to match my classic evening itself- dinner and a movie.

(Ok I did wear my hearty sunnies all morning, but we’re talking about the evening here!)

The mullet top is from Primark and is one of my favourite things! It’s loose and comfy and I love the bejewelled pattern and the unexpected back.

mllts

Incidentally, my favourite shopping buddy and I both bought this top while we were out together, and her boyfriend hates it. He hates it so much that he actually hid it from her. Hid it from her. Fortunately she finds this amusing but just the thought of it makes me come over all hulksmash. I would go insane if anyone did this to me. (Thankfully, my friends and family know better than to attempt such a thing.) I actually try and wear this top in front of her boyfriend as much as possible just to hurt his eyes. :-p

So maybe this style is more of a girl trend than a boy trend but, as the saying goes “WHO THE HELL CARES?!” (Ok, maybe that’s not an actual saying.) If you like something and feel good in it and it makes you happy, wear it and enjoy it! (With the possible exception of t-shirts with, like, swastikas on them or something… There are exceptions to every rule.) Never mind if your boyfriend hates it or your Mum thinks it’s unflattering, you’re not making them wear it. Fashion is meant to be fun, so ignore anyone who tries to take that from you!

I’m not sure how I went from Valentine’s Day to talking about swastikas.

Moving on… 🙂

The trousers, shoes and Love bracelet are from M&S and the earrings are from Karen Millen.

The coat is French Connection, and the bag is vintage.

I did paint my nails red too, which is pretty Valentine’s-y, and I thought it really tied the look together and made the colours pop 🙂

*sigh* I’m already mourning the loss of my amazing hair day, courtesy of having had my hair cut that morning (at ‘Enry ‘Iggins in Camden, who I really like, because they actually listen to what you want. And then do that, instead of something else entirely. And they play good music.)

Happy Thursday everyone!

I don’t know what it is but I reeaaally want these shoes….. I KNOW that I will never wear them, I literally can not think of a single occasion where these shoes would be the right shoe for me, but they’re just. so. funky!

I may have to content myself with these instead…

image1xxl (1)

(They’re cheaper too. And I might actually be able to walk in them.

But I’m still bummed! ;-p)

Both shoes are from Asos.

Hope you’re having a great week!

Kids: shopping online at work is BAD.  Stay in school.

Way back in February I posted about my ASOS wishlist. One of the items on it was this leather dress, which I loved but couldn’t justify at £150, as I didn’t know where I would wear it.

I still have no idea where I would wear it, but now it’s on sale for £60 and they had my size so I went ahead and bought it anyway!

Incidentally, I had a dream last night in which all the shops in the world collectively released a statement saying that they were discontinuing my size! All other sizes would still be made, they would just skip mine. I had a massive dream tantrum and woke up quite genuinely vexed. 😦 I’m sure this dream symbolically reveals something deep and meaningful about my subconscious personality.

Possibly that I’m shallow 😉

My boyfriend thinks it’s “a bit much” and possibly only suitable for a goth/fetish themed event (neither of which ever really crop up in my daily life) and my sister was on the fence.

Any thoughts? I think I like it. It fits quite nicely and the length, which was a big concern, is actually surprisingly flattering. (Loving these M&S sandals!). I wouldn’t wear it in the summer obviously but maybe for a formal event in autumn or winter? (Still not sure where though, don’t think it would work for a wedding or anything.)

Is it too gothy? Too fetishy? Too spherical boob-y? I might try and pair it with a little cardi to tone it down a bit (as suggested by the ingenious Maison Bentley), would this make the difference?

Basically, should it stay or should it go? Help, please!

Thank you!

Happy Friday!

shoes and fascinators

Having made the executive decision to wear flats to Ascot tomorrow (and having been assured that I will be literally the only one!), I decided to spring for some new ones to make me feel a bit better about it. The idea was to take one pair back once I’d picked a colour (I’m leaning towards the blush), but that might not happen… 😉

How adorable are these colours?!

shoes2

(The green is much mintier in the flesh.)

Shoes: Office

Veils/fascinators: Asos

I’ve never been to Ascot before so I’m excited! I’ll try and take lots of pictures (curse my current phonelessness!!)

I’ve also never worn a veil-fascinator-headpiece-thing before either. Slightly concerned that:

a.) My make-up will rub off on the veil and smudge all over my face.

b.) I’ll need to wear loads of make-up so my features aren’t completely washed out by the veil and then it will rub off on the veil and smudge all over my face.

c.) How do I wear sunglasses (squinting doesn’t become me)?

d.) What if it’s super sunny and I tan through the veil and end up looking like a maths book?

e.) How do I eat or drink? Do I just lift the veil and leave it sticking out visor-stylee?

f.) What if I forget and smoosh a burger against the veil and then look really weird and dirty all day?

g.) What if it really annoys me??!!

Gah, the tribulations of poncey pretentious horse events! Any advice would be welcome!

Have a great weekend! 😀

Oops I did it again… I never seem to realise that I’m wearing all one brand until I start writing a post!

Oh well, here is my OOTD:

White top: M&S

Navy treggings: also M&S

(Strap top underneath: M&S..)

White plimsolls: Office

Necklace: Anthropologie (described by one of my best friends as “the ugliest necklace she had ever seen in her entire life”. :-p  See my post “Divisive” for how much I mind…)

Lilac nails: Revlon “Charming”, I love this colour. My girlfriends said it made me look (even) pastier than normal but I have also had compliments on it from cute guys so… (Ok ok, one cute guy… and he was trying to sell me something…. but still, he clearly meant it.) I think it’s really pretty, plus it lasts quite a while before chipping, so I’m sold.

Image

For work, I changed into flats from Office. (I know it’s ridiculous to go to work in flats only to change into different flats but I just can’t walk for long in ballet shoes!)

The earrings are from Dorothy Perkins, a few years ago.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

These are my Outfits Of The Last Bank Holiday Weekend:

Image

Top: All the jewels! Most of them are things I’ve had for a while, and are from Accessorize or are vintage/gifts. The sunnies are from River Island

OOTDs:

Saturday BBQ: Sequin top from Next (old, although they always have a nice line in sequinned tees I find). New Asos “Ridley” jeans. I have trouble buying jeans (who doesn’t?) but these have a lot of stretch which I find more flattering on me and they come up nice and high (I hate surprise crack attacks. Again, who doesn’t?!) so are definitely my current favourites. (Although I ordered them in black too (same size) and they were tiny!) Booties from Office.

Sunday lunch with the fam: H&M cardi, pinky/maroon M&S trousers (These confuse me so much as I bought them in blue at the same time and the blue ones are super-comfy while these ones are trying to kill me! Why does this keep happening to me?!), Primark leopard print shoes.

Sunday night pub quiz: New white tee from Forever 21, Asos “Ridley” jeans again, neon green Converse (I used to wear Converse trainers all the time, I miss them!)

Cinco de Mayo margarita night with friends: Old GAP black shirt, Asos denim shorts, M&S tights, Office “Cecilia” flats

Bottom: Bags and shoes! The raffia bowling bag was a gift that my 3 year old niece picked out for me in the Philippines! (She has excellent taste! Must get it from her aunt…. 😛 ) And the blue bag was bought at a market stall in Florence.

Image

Pink earrings: H&M

Pink & green earrings: Asos, Daisy necklace: Brooklyn Flea Market

Huuugely heavy diamanté and perspex earrings: Accessorize

Gold, colourful earrings: Accessorize I think, necklaces and rings are all vintage/gifts. The gold and coral necklace is one of my favourites. My Dad gave it to me as a gift for passing my GSCEs (a million years ago!) and I think it looks like something a mermaid would wear 🙂

So, on the 3 day long bank holiday weekend I wore:

7 bracelets

5 rings

4 pairs of shoes

4 pairs of earrings

3 necklaces

2 bags

& 1 pair of sunnies

My partridge was in the shop.

😛

Have a good week everyone!

Dress: Asos

Leggings: Asda

Shoes: Primark

I am kind of obsessed with this dress. I have it (with shoulders) in 3 colours already and when I saw this version I had to add it to the collection! It’s super comfy (good for work) and the cut-outs make it just a little bit sexy (good for after work :-p). Plus I’m excited to wear it with a patterned shirt underneath when it gets cold again!

I don’t normally wear leggings with shoes, I prefer them with boots so you can’t tell they’re leggings but it’s too warm for boots and too cold for bare legs so I thought I’d give this a try. I think it looks ok and it’s a lot comfier than tights but I’m still undecided! Any thoughts? Are leggings still an acceptable look?

ImageThe bracelet is vintage and the earrings were a gift!

Image

ImageThe star ring is from Whistles. I think I’ve said this before but I’m always pleasantly surprised by how reasonable Whistles jewellery is compared to its clothes! As you can see, the ring has tarnished a lot (it’s a bit more rose gold than yellow gold now) but I still like it!

Happy Friday everyone and enjoy the long weekend, fellow Englishfolk! Woohooo! 😀
