shorts

I’m in Athens at the moment, visiting my parents, and these are all the shorts I brought…that are currently lounging uselessly in a cupboard, unable to be used as I have about 25 mosquito bites on my legs alone, and 2 weird patches of sunburn where my sunscreen obviously didn’t reach. In short (pun intended), my legs are not looking their best right now!

Now, where did I put my maxi-dresses…?

(Shorts L-R: H&M, Dorothy Perkins, Warehouse, River Island. Sunnies L-R: River Island, Amy Cavill for Anthropologie, River Island, Peacocks)

Hope everyone’s having a great summer!

……….you see bindis for sale in Urban Outfitters and combination skirt/trousers in River Island and you wore them the first time they were fashionable when you were 13 years old and you thought that bindis went about 2 inches higher than they’re actually meant to go and that powder blue and stretchy were good things for trousers to be:

Today I’m wearing:

Purple and lace top – Warehouse

Blue skirt – Vintage (my Mum’s from the 70s)

Leopard print jacket – M&S

Boots – River Island

I always find it harder to wear colour in winter, all my bright clothes seem really summery so this is an attempt to look professional (I am wearing it to work), colourful (to combat my misery as the weather turns from autumn to winter), warm (see previous point), fun (I am going out later with a friend) and comfy (we are going to eat lots of pizza).

Jewellery:

Silver and gold heart earrings- my sister’s from the 80s (I hesitate to say “vintage” lest she reads this and kills me)

So, it happened again. What my dad affectionately refers to as my “accidental shopping” problem. It starts innocently enough. I go out, usually with the intention of simply getting from A to B, sometimes to buy a birthday present for someone or to help a friend find the perfect seduction underwear to take on a scientific research trip to Peru (don’t ask). I won’t shop, I think. You could call me naïve but the truth is that I’m clearly lying to myself and we all know it. And that is how I end up tonight, on my bed, grinning avariciously at my purchases, like a kid in a candy shop, a magpie in Swarovski, Cruella in Doggy Day Care.

Clearly I have a problem. And so I thought, what would be better? Should I a.) Become less obsessed with fashion? Or b.) Start a blog where I can ramble endlessly about clothes, jewels, bags, footstools (yes, I love them!), shoes and just about anything else that takes my fancy, thus further feeding my rampant lust for style and general fabulousness?

You’ll never guess what I went for… Read the rest of this entry »
