I know, I know- I’m supposed to be starting to think about autumn and snoods and rusty orange colours and pumpkins etc., but I am going for a long weekend in Crete with some girlfriends next week and am thus still firmly in summer mode!

With that in mind, I am really feeling daisies at the moment. Here is a collection of some daisy themed stuff I had lying around…

Sunglasses: Accessorize (Ok, these aren’t actually mine. My Mum and sister have matching pairs and I nick them occassionally…)

I wasn’t actually going to include this super-cheesy photo, until I realised that I had inadvertently posed in front of a big picture of a daisy that my Grandmother had painted on her window years ago…!

Green strap top: Dorothy Perkins (one of my most used items this summer!)

This was Day 2 of my time in Athens, after I’d burnt my shoulders and thighs horribly on Day 1 and could only wear soft and light clothing!

Daisy necklace: bought at the Brooklyn Flea Market last winter, worn A LOT since.

Daisy flip-flops: Accessorize

On the top left are 2 daisy clips, that came with a pair of wedges that I bought in Greece about 10 years ago. I love that they are detachable as it means that a.) my shoes can be a bit more sophisticated and less cute, as the occasion requires and b.) I can put daisies on all my other stuff too! Win-win. 🙂

Out for burgers the other night: Top: Primark. Jeans: Monsoon. Shoes: Office. Jacket: Warehouse

I also tried on this amazing dress in a shop in Athens called BSB. I loved the pattern so much but ultimately just couldn’t make the shape work for me. From some angles it looked ok, but I have learned the hard way that if you feel uncomfortable in something in the shop, you are definitely never going to wear it in real life!

Drew Barrymore daisies

Can you tell I am still crushing on mid-nineties Drew Barrymore…?! That woman knew how to make daisies a look!

I hope you all have a daisy kind of day!

I went and saw Jason Derulo at the Hammersmith Apollo recently. The seats were rubbish (apparently “standing” now means “a metre of space at the very back of the room”) but he spent much of the show with his top off so, you know, money well spent. 😉

I wore:

– 2 Black strap tops, 1 from M&S, 1 from Urban Outfitters

– My Monsoon jeans (these are actually my only jeans, I really need to buy more!)

– My Forever 21 plaid shirt that I’ve worn to death this winter, tied around my waist. (If you’d told me a year ago that one day I’d be tying things round my waist again, I’d have laughed in your face.)

– Fake tattoo style choker. From Claire’s Accessories about 14 years ago. Following on from my efforts of the last 2 years to make the bracelet version fashionable, I have now decided that the time is ripe for the choker! Basically I will be reintroducing all the old stuff from my wardrobe that I still secretly love until it becomes fashionable again and no one can stop me. Next stop…..hair chopsticks!!!

(I’m actually serious)

– I bought the “keep calm and talk dirty to me” tee there.

– Cobalt blue handbag that I bought at a market stall in Florence for about €15

– Peace sign bracelet/ring, Miss Selfridge (I think), and super-old karma beads (another thing I want back in fashion, dammit! I used to wear at least 20 at all times).

I will resist the overwhelming urge to sing my own name now (Jason Derulo’s most enduring legacy, surely?) and just say-

So, I cut my hair. And it’s short. Like short short. Like ponytails are a thing of the past short. Like tucking it behind my ears is a distant dream short. Like just when I thought the overzealous hairdresser had finished, I heard a buzzing noise as she started razoring the back of my neck and had a mini nervous breakdown short. So anyway, I am not completely convinced. I fear my face may be just the wrong side of “I really enjoy doughnuts” for hair this short. And I feel my goal to look grungy and badass may have somewhat failed since as soon as I got home my sister (bless her, she was trying to be nice on account of me having texted her a panicked message from the hairdresser’s that may or may not have included the word bald. Not that I am at all melodramatic) exclaimed “Oh my gosh, it’s so cute, you look just like MUM!”

But, on the plus side, I have discovered that I much prefer it wavy and messy to the bouncy, straight ‘do I had upon leaving the salon which is excellent news for my morning lie-in. And I figure that in about 6 weeks, it’ll be just right.

In the meantime I will be busy trying to convince myself that I look like this:

I’m getting my hair cut tomorrow. I already kind of have a bob but, while I long to look 90s, messy and grungy, I instead resemble a cross between Jackie O and my mother. Both beautiful women, but not what I’m going for right now. So here is my hair moodboard (and boy do I feel pretentious writing “moodboard”) of some of my favourite bobs. Some that could potentially be achievable with my hair and several that aren’t!

Wish me luck!
