Plates

How adorable is this peacock plate from Perky on Not on the High Street?! I kind of want to buy it and be one of those people who displays plates on her wall… Of course I would buy some as dinner plates but £29.50 a plate is sliiightly out of my price range.

What I did buy however is a bunch of plates from the Habitat Concetta range, which I’ve loved for ages! Also pretty expensive, but I compromised by buying half the amount of plates and bowls that I need and the other half from Ikea. The Ikea plates are about the same size and shape, just plain white, so I figure I’ll alternate when setting the table and it’ll look fine.

Upon closer inspection of the Perky products, they also do plates with other fabulous designs! As well as cushions and art prints! I may have to splurge on something after all…. After all, a house isn’t a home without an earring-wearing bird.

I am having a peculiar love affair with this console table. I can’t remember the last time I felt lust like this. And the last time I thought about an ostrich this much was, well let’s save that story for band camp shall we?

(joke)

It comes in black:

You can get it (for about £500 less) without the lamp:

In fact, all sorts of animal arse options are available to you:

Or even a whole horse for those with the sort of houses that could only be improved by the addition of a giant behoofed mammal.

These are all from ibride, and I am now kind of obsessed with their weird and wonderful website. I originally saw the table on Out There Interiors, where I bought my coffee table for my new flat (alas not an ostrich), and I am obsessed with everything on that website too!

If only these were cheap novelty items then I would be the proud lover owner of the Diva Lucia (it’s even named after one of my best friends, this has to be a sign!), but at £895 a pop, I think I may have to exercise my iffy self restraint.

Boo 😦

Happy Hump Day!

(Ooh…humps…..maybe I could find a table shaped like a camel…?)

Newplace!

I am currently in the process of moving out. This is a Big Deal for me.

I have never lived alone, or even away from my family. If my parents hadn’t upped and left the country for warmer climes a few years ago, I’d probably still live with them. As it is, I live with my sister. I LOVE living with my sister- she’s my best friend and an amazing cook, it’s kind of a no-brainer. However, now that I am getting *ahem* older, I have decided that I should at least try and go it alone for a bit (Spoiler alert-this is less dramatic than it sounds, I am moving 10 minutes down the road). I am simultaneously excited and terrified. (What will I eat?!)

Unfortunately all this moving has put a serious spanner in my blogging! Not for want of inspiration, but simply because every time I sit down to blog I find myself thinking “this time would be better spent researching integrated washer dryers” and I somehow distract myself from the task at hand, despite the fact that researching integrated washer dryers is exactly as boring as it sounds. But I miss blogging! And my sister and boyfriend may kill me if I don’t manage to find at least 5 minutes a day where I’m not thinking/talking/googling/monologuing incessantly/all of the above about cabinets. Seriously, it’s that bad. I have little dancing household appliances can-canning across my brain ALL DAY. It’s like Fantasia with furniture.

So, I’m going to try and blog a bit more, as I’m not quite ready to relinquish my grip on sanity just yet.

That said, if this blog takes a turn away from from fashion and towards decor, go easy on me – I’m only human!

Hope everyone’s having a good week, and Happy Autumn! 🙂

Love,

The Styletterie

I take pictures of so much stuff that I like/buy/am inspired by with the intention of blogging about it here, but invariably end up getting distracted/procrastinating/finding something else I want to blog about first. So I thought I’d just bite the bullet and share them already in one long, rambly post. Before earrings become obsolete and no one cares anymore. (Perish the thought!)…

I bought the sheep earrings from Joy as a Christmas present to myself, and am obsessed with how cute they are!

This jumper is from Rad.co – I ordered loads of things from there and definitely want to do a whole post for them!

I went and saw Bryan Adams at The 02 in November. My sister was a massive fan of his growing up so I became one out of necessity! He was amazing, kept it all really simple- just him, his band and some black and white images on a screen behind him. We screamed like teenagers!

I wore: Asos Curve off the shoulder jumper, black M&S treggings, Asda watermelon handbag (that was a gift from my nieces :-D), Office booties and Topshop earrings. The necklace is just some chains that I bought at a craft shop in Monastiraki, held together with a safety pin.

I tried to fwoof my hair up and get an 80s rock chick vibe going… Unfortunately my hair always falls flat after about 10 minutes!

Concert tees are my favourite…

This little tag was on my birthday card from my brother… I think he was trying to tell me something!

And speaking of my birthday…

My friend got me these monstrosities-

PPs

Period panties. FFS. How is this a thing?! My favourite thing about these was that I opened them in front of my father, and his face as he tried to work them out was hilaaarious!

Adorable Oliver Bonas bag, for when you’re feeling a bit Pharrell…

I finally got around to watching the Asprey’s documentary (“Inside Asprey: Luxury by Royal Appointment”, which aired last summer) and thought these torso glasses were really cool. Sorry for the rubbish quality of the photo- it is just a picture of my TV on pause.

Flamingo fever!

There’s a lot of Marks and Spencer in this outfit- the flamingo top and pearls were gifts from my sister for Christmas and my birthday. The Love bracelet was also a gift from M&S a couple of years ago.

The peacock earrings are not from M&S, they were a gift from a friend in Birmingham. I actually just put them on as I liked the green and pink together – the bird theme was inadvertent!

Monsoon jumper- this actually has a detachable feather collar that I removed so as to limit the birdiness!

photo 1 (53)

I love that this top is long enough that the pattern still shows under the jumper. (Although, 2 elderly people in my vicinity commented on the fact that the “youth” never tuck their shirts in!)

You can get away with a boring black outfit with enough bling!

Necklace and big ring: Peacocks

Earrings: Mikey

Small wedding-y type ring and bracelets: gifts from various shops in Athens, I think.

I have made the executive decision that I am not, as yet, too old for pig tails!

(This may be misguided but I don’t care. :-p)

photo 3 (50)

This made me chuckle, I don’t really know why, I just liked it! (Probably the same reason I like the current trend for those really rude and sweary cross-stich embroideries – I like the contrast of something cute, i.e. a teacup with something offensive!) From Sublime.

I love chandeliers, and this one in One Moorgate Place was a nice one.

I’ve been experiencing non-buyer’s remorse ever since seeing this M&S cushion and deciding against it a couple of months ago. I finally bought it! It just makes me smile 🙂

(I swear I’m not a sheep fetishist! :-/ I don’t think…)

Happy Friday everyone, and have a great weekend!

Basil alone

– Little basil pot decoration, they were hanging all over town! So sweet 😀

On display in my room:

Basil

Clothes

Floral skirt (left):  Tally Weijl

Polka dot black tee (right): Ruly’s

Scarves: Suite Blanco

Accessories

Turns out Lisbon has some really cute shops! I especially enjoyed Suite Blanco and Ruly’s. Tally Weijl was fun too, in a way-too-young-for-me-but-I-so-don’t-care kind of way ;-p

poncho

I tried on this poncho from Ruly’s as a joke and it turned out to be my favourite thing! I’m really looking forward to wearing it.

Floral Bershka jacket

Floral jacket: Bershka

Turquoise jewellery etc

Gold necklace: Bershka

Turquoise necklace & bracelet: Suite Blanco

Pom pom earrings & keyring: Suite Blanco. I also bought a doughnut necklace and some sweetie hair ties for my nieces there 🙂

They also had some adorable wicker bags, but I restrained myself! (They wouldn’t fit in my suitcase… 😦  )

The gold word stud earrings are from Tally Weijl, there are 9 which I thought was a weird number for a pack of earrings. Also the words are things like  “yeah”, “oh”, “ok”, “good” etc. and one of them is “hoot”, which also struck me as an odd choice!

The “mermaid tears” necklace is also from Tally Weijl and just made me laugh so much I had to buy it. Everything was super cheap too!

Cardi, necklace, glasses

I bought this teal cardi from Massimo Dutti. I know it exists in England, but for some reason I always thought it was mega-expensive so I’ve never been in. It’s not cheap but it’s Zara style prices, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Speaking of Zara, the faux Chanel headphones necklace is from there.

Sunnies

The sunglasses (which make me look like a big bug!) are from Tally Weijl.

Me sunnies

My Suite Blanco scarves, which I’m obsessed with:

Ice cream scarf

Ice creeeeeeaaaam!

Pineapple scarf

  How cute are the pineapples?

All that (and a lot of jam/cherry liqueur/fridge magnets!) and I somehow managed not to burst my sister’s suitcase (which was already full when I set off for Lisbon!) – go me!!!

Have a great weekend everyone! 😀

The Styletterie
