This has never happened to me before- I tried to take an in-motion picture of myself, and it actually turned out ok!

(Ok, one of them did. In the rest I look like an enthusiastic llama in a dress….)

This was genuinely such a big cause of celebration for me, I can’t even tell you 😀

These pictures are actually from when I was in Cyprus on holiday last summer. I never got around to posting the photos from that trip but now that it’s almost summer again (although, here in London, that means thunderstorms all week apparently!), I thought I’d revisit them.

The dress is from ASOS.

I’m going to New York on holiday in a couple of weeks and I’m thinking of taking this dress with me, so any suggestions on how to make it more ‘city’ and less ’38 degree beach holiday’ would be welcome!

I bought the pineapple clutch at an overpriced boutique in Athens. The label says that it’s by House of Pasiphae.

We went to a restaurant called Karatello, which we liked so much we went again the next day.

The saganaki en flambé may have had something to do with it….

And maybe the complimentary loukoumades for dessert as well….

Summer is nearly here, I can feel it! 😀

ASOSearrings

Scouring ASOS for a birthday present for a friend, I naturally stumbled upon a couple (*ahem*) of things I wanted for myself. It didn’t help that I had a 20% off card from Elle magazine (the September issue, with Kristen Stewart on the cover) so felt like I had to “make the most” of the discount by spending tons more money than I otherwise would have.

But my favourite purchases were these 2 pairs of earrings:

image1xxl

Bought these as an attempt to replace my similar shaped pink and green ones that broke 😦 They were £8.

LOVE these ones, and they show up better against my dark hair too. £20 (£16 with the discount :-D)

I am letting myself off the hook however as I did also buy the aforementioned present (a knitted jumper with a burger on it that I totally want for myself as well!) for my friend’s birthday!

Where’s my halo?

Felt pretty smug reading this week’s Grazia and seeing this feature on hearty sunglasses, including the Asos pair I bought 4 months ago.

So ahead of the game… :-p

I’ve been wanting a pair ever since seeing Samantha in this awesome outfit in SATC:

Hope everyone’s having a great day and enjoying the sunshine!

I don’t know what it is but I reeaaally want these shoes….. I KNOW that I will never wear them, I literally can not think of a single occasion where these shoes would be the right shoe for me, but they’re just. so. funky!

I may have to content myself with these instead…

image1xxl (1)

(They’re cheaper too. And I might actually be able to walk in them.

But I’m still bummed! ;-p)

Both shoes are from Asos.

Hope you’re having a great week!

Kids: shopping online at work is BAD.  Stay in school.

I tried and failed to resist these hearty sunnies from Asos-  I will be wearing them all day regardless of the fact that London (and I) haven’t seen sun in what feels like months!

Hearty glassesGlasses: Asos, Balloons: Tesco, Self-indulgent posing: model’s own.

The only problem is that with these darn reflective lenses, you can see your arm and camera in them, so everyone knows that you had hours of fun taking selfies in your room like a loser! ;-p

In other news, I got my hurr did (I don’t know why I have to say it like that but I can’t seem to stop…).

I got more layers added in which I’m hoping will sort out the triangle hair problem I’ve been having while my bob has been growing out. 🙂

I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day, whatever you’re doing!

Bday OOTDs

Because I think I’m the Queen, I decided that one birthday party this year simply wasn’t enough for me. So I had dinner and drinks with my friends a couple of weeks after my birthday, and then dragged them all to Ultimate Power night at The Electric Ballroom a couple of weeks after that. (Oh and I was also treated to a lovely meal by my family on the actual day :-p)

OOTDs:

My friend gave me this super-cool ice cream sundae/milkshake clutch from New Look and I wanted to wear it to our dinner, especially as we were having burgers so it fit the junk food theme. I basically planned the whole outfit around the clutch as I felt it needed clean lines and block colours to reach it’s full pop-art style potential. The blue playsuit is Rachel Roy for Macy’s, bought a few years ago in New York. I wore it with black tights and booties (both M&S), my trusty Asda cardi and some bright bangles a friend had given me ages ago.

The hearty necklace is from Accessorize (my 4 year old niece has a matching one, which she demanded upon seeing mine, as it’s “little, just the right size” for her apparently! 🙂 )

The hearty earrings were a birthday present from over 10 years ago (it sometimes worries me how little my style changes!). The loom band bracelet was also thanks to my niece- it’s not enough to make one for her, I have to make them for everyone she knows, myself included! I was allowed to pick my own colours though (this was a big step!), and I actually wear it a lot.The gold hearty ring is Folli Follie (bought in Bicester a while back) and the other ring is vintage.

Sidebar: I just looked at the Folli Follie website and I am now in love with all their rings, especially the ‘Love and Fortune’ ones!

Nooooo…….! :-O

My second (ok, third) party was a club night in Camden featuring all of the power ballads, all of the time! I wanted to channel an 80s rock chick vibe, as I knew most of the music would be from the era that gave us the best power ballads (and an alarming amount of saxophone). I plaited my hair during the day and back-combed and hair-sprayed it just before going out to try and make it bouffant and curly, and wore my new Fashion Union at Asos metallic dress (which was on sale 🙂 ) with a black belt, black tights and my Office ballet flats. (Comfort wins out over style if there’s going to be dancing – life’s too short!). I like mixing silver and gold so I added this Aldo necklace that was a birthday gift. There was some divided opinion about whether or not the necklace marred the neckline of the dress but I felt it added to the drama of the look so I went with it. I also wore my Marc by Marc Jacobs zip earrings that were my Christmas present from my bf and various black and gold bracelets.

I loved this dress instantly because it kind of reminds me of Michelle Pfeiffer’s dress in the final luau scene in Grease 2:

(If only I looked like Michelle Pfeiffer in it! And had my very own cool rider…)

Power2

In keeping with the 80s theme, my eldest sister wore her Madonna-style cross earrings (for the first time since about 15 years ago, when I stole them from her :-p) and my middle sister somehow procured an inflatable boombox…

Power

If you’re in London and you enjoy sticky floors, fists of pure emotion, air guitar and singing so loudly you lose your voice, then I would heartily recommend this night – it was awesome! 😀

And after 3 birthday parties, my friends gently reminded me that I am not in fact the Queen, and so my birthday season (all of January) is over for another year.

Happy Thursday!

Cheap,Floral

It was my sister’s birthday last weekend and she had 2 parties (because if you can’t channel the Queen on your birthday, when can you?) Her first party was at home and I wore:

– My Dolly Parton slogan tee that I bought when I saw her live last month, tied up at the back with a hairtie to make it the right length.

– My Mum’s cobalt blue skirt from the 70s. (Worn previously in a winter OOTD.)

– Accessorize pink and black mini-wedges

– Chandelier earrings that were a gift several years ago

– Accessorize necklace, I got it last week in the sale 🙂

– My Viva Forever bracelet, bought when I went to see the musical of the same name.

On Sunday night we went to a pub quiz, and I wore my new Asos off-the-shoulder dress, which is now my favourite thing. It’s super comfy, airy and perfect for summer. (Argh – when searching for the link to the dress, I came across about 30 other off-the-shoulder numbers that I now want! This is not good…)

orangefloral2

I wore it with my white Office plimsolls and white Asos backpack. I also wore my gorgeous new Oliver Bonas amethyst necklace that my sister gave me (on her birthday- I don’t think she understands birthdays very well! Not that I’m complaining….!)

 Isn’t it lovely?!!

I’m incapable of not twirling when I put on a floaty dress!

(Secretly, I’m 8).

My bf thought it actually looked cooler with the leather straps of my backpack showing.

This is to demonstrate that my tan lines from where I burnt recently are so strong that it actually looks as if I have my backpack on all the time!

Argh.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Peplum B2

Top: Marks & Spencer

Necklace: Primark

Shoes: Office

I wore this peplum top to work last week, and then out for drinks after. I always pair it with a biggish necklace, as it’s very high-necked for me and the necklace helps break it up.

(Please excuse me with the black and white photos etc, I have only just got a new phone with these functions and I am still in the “ooh everything looks so pretty in black and white or with one of those filters that makes everything a cool colour” phase!)

(Also, yes, I took a torso selfie whilst on the phone at work. I am that person.)

peplum jacket

This was another way I wore the top a while ago, with my Peacocks pink sparkly necklace, my Warehouse leather jacket and detachable Asos fur collar. Bit more girly/flashy.

Have a great week! 🙂

Way back in February I posted about my ASOS wishlist. One of the items on it was this leather dress, which I loved but couldn’t justify at £150, as I didn’t know where I would wear it.

I still have no idea where I would wear it, but now it’s on sale for £60 and they had my size so I went ahead and bought it anyway!

Incidentally, I had a dream last night in which all the shops in the world collectively released a statement saying that they were discontinuing my size! All other sizes would still be made, they would just skip mine. I had a massive dream tantrum and woke up quite genuinely vexed. 😦 I’m sure this dream symbolically reveals something deep and meaningful about my subconscious personality.

Possibly that I’m shallow 😉

My boyfriend thinks it’s “a bit much” and possibly only suitable for a goth/fetish themed event (neither of which ever really crop up in my daily life) and my sister was on the fence.

Any thoughts? I think I like it. It fits quite nicely and the length, which was a big concern, is actually surprisingly flattering. (Loving these M&S sandals!). I wouldn’t wear it in the summer obviously but maybe for a formal event in autumn or winter? (Still not sure where though, don’t think it would work for a wedding or anything.)

Is it too gothy? Too fetishy? Too spherical boob-y? I might try and pair it with a little cardi to tone it down a bit (as suggested by the ingenious Maison Bentley), would this make the difference?

Basically, should it stay or should it go? Help, please!

Thank you!

Happy Friday!

shoes and fascinators

Having made the executive decision to wear flats to Ascot tomorrow (and having been assured that I will be literally the only one!), I decided to spring for some new ones to make me feel a bit better about it. The idea was to take one pair back once I’d picked a colour (I’m leaning towards the blush), but that might not happen… 😉

How adorable are these colours?!

shoes2

(The green is much mintier in the flesh.)

Shoes: Office

Veils/fascinators: Asos

I’ve never been to Ascot before so I’m excited! I’ll try and take lots of pictures (curse my current phonelessness!!)

I’ve also never worn a veil-fascinator-headpiece-thing before either. Slightly concerned that:

a.) My make-up will rub off on the veil and smudge all over my face.

b.) I’ll need to wear loads of make-up so my features aren’t completely washed out by the veil and then it will rub off on the veil and smudge all over my face.

c.) How do I wear sunglasses (squinting doesn’t become me)?

d.) What if it’s super sunny and I tan through the veil and end up looking like a maths book?

e.) How do I eat or drink? Do I just lift the veil and leave it sticking out visor-stylee?

f.) What if I forget and smoosh a burger against the veil and then look really weird and dirty all day?

g.) What if it really annoys me??!!

Gah, the tribulations of poncey pretentious horse events! Any advice would be welcome!

Have a great weekend! 😀
